Chinese Medicine
Chinese Medicine (CM), commonly referred to as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), has been used for thousands of years to promote health and prevent disease. This includes the promotion of reproductive and sexual health and treatment of female health disorders, male health disorders and infertility. The basic philosophy of Chinese medicine is founded on the dual concepts of Yin and Yang and energetic balance and imbalance. When Yin and Yang are balanced the energies are dynamically stable and all our body systems function well.
If the Yin and Yang become unbalanced there is energetic instability and sluggishness which means the systems involved in female health, male health and reproduction are unable to perform at their peak. When this happens gynaecological complaints and male urogenital problems can develop, including a couple’s ability to conceive and/or produce healthy conceptions. The Yin and Yang can become unbalanced due to various physical, emotional, dietary or lifestyle factors.
Chinese medicine diagnostic methods
Chinese medicine uses diagnostic methods to assess the state of the Yin and Yang and determine the nature and location of the energetic imbalance. These diagnostic methods include feeling the pulse, palpating the abdomen, looking at the tongue and asking detailed questions.
Jenny uses these traditional diagnostic methods in combination with modern reproductive approaches such as charting the menstrual cycle, using ovulation kits and employing blood and ultrasound investigations to assess reproductive health.
Chinese medicine treatment methods
Chinese Medicine uses several therapies to address imbalance. The main therapies Jenny uses are:
- Acupuncture
- Chinese Herbal Medicine
